SEM Transculturalismes, 22/10/2026, 17h30: Invitation of Daniyal Mueenuddin

The “Transculturalismes” seminar is delighted to welcome Daniyal Mueenuddin, who will be presenting his new novel, This is Where the Serpent Lives (Bloomsbury 2026).

Daniyal Mueenuddin is the author of an acclaimed collection of short stories, In Other Rooms, Other Wonders (2009), a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. His stories are connected, in a loose narrative structure, through common themes: the sense of place, of geography, of the people, who can be recognised from story to story. Through them he builds a coherent and poetic vision of Pakistani society. In his recently published novel, This is Where the Serpent Lives (Bloomsbury 2026), the author pursues this exploration of country and city in Pakistan, of its social structure as well as of its drawbacks, of its poetry as well as of its corruption.

The session with Daniyal Mueenuddin will take place at Maison de la recherche, Sorbonne Université (28 rue Serpente) on October 22, from 17.30 to 19.00, in room 002.
