Jean-Yves Pellegrin enseigne la littérature américaine et l’adaptation cinématographique. Ses principales publications portent sur le roman américain contemporain. Ses domaines de recherche sont la représentation de la voix, du temps, de l’indicible, les rapports entre littérature et sciences, et les questions épistémologiques. Il travaille notamment sur les romans de Saul Bellow, Don DeLillo, Thomas Pynchon, Steve Tomasula, Rikki Ducornet et Richard Powers. Il rédige actuellement une monographie consacrée aux approches du réel dans le roman The Gold Bug Variations de Richard Powers. Ce travail étudie la manière dont la littérature interroge les modalités de la description du réel à l’ère contemporaine de sa complexification et de son appropriation quasi exclusive par le langage des sciences. Jean-Yves Pellegrin est également le traducteur français de R. Powers (lauréat du prix Maurice Coindreau 2016).

 

Jean-Yves Pellegrin teaches American literature and film adaptation. He has published mainly on the contemporary American novel and more specifically on the representation of the voice, time, and the unspeakable, the relationships between literature and science, and epistemological issues. He has worked on the novels of Saul Bellow, Don DeLillo, Thomas Pynchon, Steve Tomasula,, Rikki Ducornet, and Richard Powers among others. He is currently working on a book on The Gold Bug Variations by Richard Powers. This book studies how literature examines different ways of describing the real world in the contemporary age, a period distinguished by the increasing complexity of this description and its almost complete appropriation by the languages of science. Jean-Yves Pellegrin is also the French translator of Richard Powers’ novels.
