Abstract:
After focusing on the Bombay poets from the 1950s to the 1990sin my PhD, I’m now studying how contemporary Bombay poets carry on the tradition of the poetic scene while also managing to adapt to the new realities of the contemporary city. I analyse how the poetic scene is impacted by the sprawling urbanisation and how virtual spaces offer new possibilities for the poets to connect and to continue mentoring the new generation. I also study how the tradition of small publishing presses is reinvented with a print on demand, online model of Poetrywala.
